Abstract
Condition-based maintenance is a key for high availability and cost-efficient machine operation, gaining more and more attraction in industry. Within the research project "Make-it" funded by the German ministry for education and research (BMBF) new approaches to measure the wear of machine tool components are developed. The remaining service life of components is identified based on the actual machine conditions and maintenance measures are scheduled accordingly at minimal costs. Furthermore, condition monitoring data is stored and analyzed in terms of lifecycle cost agreements between the machine tool manufacturer and the customer.
