Abstract
Against the background of increasing urbanization and rural exodus, value networks in metropolitan areas offer promising potential. In an interdisciplinary discussion, opportunities and barriers for the siting and safeguarding of manufacturing companies were discussed. As part of a collaborative research project, relevant network and site types were determined and important location factors for production networks in metropolitan areas were identified.
