Abstract

The successful design of an optimal stage sequence for a forging process depends on the knowhow of the technical designer. The goal of a preform optimization is to design the form under a condition of a complete and foldsfree shaping of the finished form. In the article an approach is introduced, which is able to reach such an optimization through coupling of forging simulations with genetic algorithms.
