Abstract

Four examples are presented to demonstrate the use of optical confocal microscopy to visualize mesopores and defects in porous molecular sieves as well as the spatial distribution of fluorescent guests in these host matrices. The technique permits a straightforward characterization of this promising new class of supramolecular materials.
