Abstract

Pollution of a river is determined by the contamination of the water and the corresponding sediments. This paper presents the comparison of the variation of the activity per unit mass of uranium-238 in water and sediments along the course of the Mulde River. The Mulde River drains the former Saxonian uranium mining and milling areas. The uranium activities per unit mass of the sediments show more variability, but they generally reveal the same variation along the course of the Mulde River as uranium activities of the water.
