Abstract
Within an extensive number of fatigue investigations carried out at the Institute of Building Materials Science, Leibniz Universität Hannover, an increase of the surface temperature of concrete specimens due to their cyclic loading has been observed. The temperature development and distribution was determined using an infrared temperature sensor and a therrnal imaging camera. Different influencing factors on the temperature development as the test frequency or the minimum and maximum compressive stress levels of the dynamic loading were investigated. In the scope of pursuing investigations, a correlation between the increase of the surface temperature and the reached ultimate numbers of cycles to failure could be determined.
