Abstract
Decisions about an investment in expensive manufacturing technologies are usually made by comparing prices offered of alternative suppliers without a quantitative assessment of long-term cost and benefit. To include this overall evaluation the method of Total Costs and Benefits of Ownership (TCBO) have to be applied. The use will be illustrated at the company G.A. Röders to evaluate the investment of different cutting machine tools for the die casting preparation.
