Abstract

In this contribution, we present a system level based evaluation metric for automotive multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antennas. We introduce suitable performance indicators based on calculation and assessment of channel capacity and condition number. An evaluation and calibration of the proposed metric is performed both by simulation and measurements in fading channels. The approach enables an evaluation of MIMO antennas for automotive use, which includes effects due to vehicular antenna integration or channel conditions, which have an impact on the overall system performance.
