Abstract

Experimental investigations on cross-linked polyethylene insulation are reported concerning synergic phenomena resulting from multistress aging with different combined conductor temperatures, test durations, and electrical field strengths. The evaluation of depolarisation current measurements and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance investigations reveal that depending on the combination of aging parameters the electric field strength can provide temperature induced effects in the polymer morphology which are monitored by changes of the spin-spin relaxation and the dielectric relaxation behaviour.
