Abstract
Ever increasing transport on waterways and concern about maintenance cost of waterways and canals fuel attempts to develop alternative revetments which supersede current constructions as being less costly and ecologically beneficial. Modular armour patches of normal and heavy concrete were investigated under regular wave loads until the armour layer failed. A comparison of stability parameters found for the tested armour System with literature values revealed that in particular armour patches made of heavy concrete had significant advantages compared with normal armour layers; thus smaller armour layer thickness was feasible.
