Mrs. Norton{\textquoteright}s husband encouraged her to apply and from over 10,800 applicants, 384 men and one woman passed the entrance examination. {\textquoteleft}{\textquoteleft}Being the mother of three young children and the only woman in her class presented her with challenges the men did not face,{\textquoteright}{\textquoteright} wrote Lauren Peck, an associate of Mrs. Norton{\textquoteright}s who worked with her for many years and wrote her Memorial Address in Photogrammetric Engineering & Remote Sensing (Peck, 1994, 1998). In this regard, Mrs. Norton remains an inspiration today for men and women who must juggle the responsibilities of their personal and professional lives.",
