Abstract
Different methods for the mathematical description of lines and line systems are analyzed and discussed. A simple method for the simulation of line systems, including losses, in a nonlinear circuit environment in the time domain is treated, and as an example a typical simulation tool (called ISIM) based upon this method is presented. The most crucial problem within the simulation of interconnects in a circuit environment is the problem of the time step control between circuit simulation and interconnect simulation. This problem is discussed, and a method to overcome it is presented.
