Abstract
The high-order harmonic generation (HHG) from aligned molecules in CO 2 was investigated. The time-dependant Schrödinger equation was solved in the single-active-electron approximation for a doubly antisymmetric initial wave function. The ionization and HHG for fixed orientations of the molecular axis with respect to electric field, was also studied. The HGG spectra of CO2 were measured for different preferential orientations for the molecular ensemble. The results show that the symmetry of the molecular ground state got imprinted in the outcome of strong-field phenomena.
