Abstract
This contribution gives a literature review on the currently established models and theories for the behavior of space charges and their role in respect to electrical and thermal aging of polymeric insulating materials. Besides that, the known influences on the space charge behavior like the temperature or filler-products are listed. All the theoretical work from the last decades, from which the most important literature is referred to, lead to a critical view on actual voltage endurance testing procedures and the space charge accumulation influencing their results. From these critics, the need for standardization work for a procedure of voltage endurance testing under high DC voltage is explained, with the respect to the influence of space charge presence. In the end, further planned examinations regarding this motivation are introduced.
