Abstract
The investigation of two different hybrid material pairs - during turning operations - shows the possibility to detect the material transition zone online. For this purpose external sensors and also internal machine signals can be used. Especially, the application of external sensors is a promising approach. Therefore, a sensory machine component will be developed in upcoming research. Furthermore, the hybrid milling and boring process will be investigated to determine a sensor combination which allows to detect the material transition zone for different cutting operations.
