Abstract

Heating action in an induction bar heater for forging shops is investigated with the aid of a numerical simulation program. The program uses the method of finite differences and enables the inductive heating process, i. e. the coupled electromagnetic and thermal fields, to be calculated. Temperature dependence of steel properties and in particular the dependence of permeability on temperature and field strength are taken into account.
