Abstract

This paper describes the numerical simulation of the induction system for a steel disk heating. Problem-oriented 3D models for the calculation of coupled electromagnetic and thermal tasks were developed by ANSYS. Electromagnetic and thermal processes were investigated by heating the rotated disk-shaped workpiece, which is partially located in the inductor. Further prospects of developed models were connected with the research of different induction systems for the different shaped workpieces heating. Also developed methods and approaches could be applied for other electrotechnological processes such as hardening, annealing, preheating, post heating and summarized of the offered solution for all steel rings, disks, gears, shafts, springs and other symmetrical workpieces. Using the model, electrothermal problems for designing induction installations and parametric search for optimal system configurations were analyzed and investigated.
