Abstract
In this contribution a new method for evaluating electrical measured partial discharges on power transformers is introduced. The method is based on a system theoretical approach and provides the capability for a location of the partial discharge (PD) source by taking the characteristic behaviors of transformer coils into account using their transfer functions. The basic idea of this method is described and its possibilities and restrictions as well as its advantages and disadvantages are discussed. Thus leading to an outlook what kind of further investigations are necessary in order to integrate this technique in future monitoring systems.
