Abstract
The results presented in this article show that the aerodynamic orientation methods meets the conflicting demands of the market for high cycle rates for large-scale production as well as high flexibility for small batches and short product life cycles. Furthermore the aerodynamic feeding system is an entire open system, consisting of individual standardized modules that no longer need to be individually adapted to the workpiece. A change of workpieces is feasible by adjusting only a few parameters such as gradient, nozzle position and air pressures. Due to the open and modular design the aerodynamic feeding presents the following advantages over conventional systems: high cycle rates, high process reliability, low fault liability, high fault tolerance, high reusability and easy convertibility. The use of aerodynamic orientation methods offers advantages and new possibilities in part feeding in an economically and technologically manner.
