Abstract
This paper aims on visualising of the communication link for UWB consumer electronic applications. It is intended to introduce the aspects involved especially with the integration of the antenna into the chassis of the applications to the designers of the consumer electronic application that are typically not used to rf and antenna terminology. The complete chain of the communication link is modelled using numerical simulation. This includes the antenna functionality inside the chassis of the application and the wave propagation in a typical indoor environment. The use of numerical simulations provides the advantage of visualising the electromagnetic fields and offers often better insight into the behaviour of antennas and other rf components without detailed knowledge about electromagnetic theory.
