Abstract
The performance of machine tools is strongly dominated by the dynamic behavior of the main spindle. A high variety of investigations for the analytical or numerical description of the dynamic spindle effects exists. Yet all approaches show challenges in modeling and parameterizing of the component’s behavior under process-relevant conditions as the spindle is only accessible for measurements in non-rotating and non-loaded conditions. This contribution explains the measurement and modeling of a rotating, loaded spindle in a specially designed test-rig.
