Abstract

PURPOSE: An inverter is provided to prevent a short between two input lines by supplying an auxiliary control voltage to a gate of a normally conductive semiconductor switch. CONSTITUTION: The voltage of a fixed polarity is supplied to two input lines(3,4) for the operation of an inverter. An inverter bridge is connected between two input lines and includes at least one half bridge(15). The half bridge comprises two normally conductive gate-controlled semiconductor switches. A controller(5) supplies a control voltage to the gate of the normally conductive gate-controlled semiconductor switches of the inverter bridge when the inverter operates. A DC voltage source(1) supplies an auxiliary control voltage to the gate of the normally conductive gate-controlled semiconductor switches when the inverter stops.
