Abstract
The paper analyses and compares three French regions which can be considered innovative milieux. The following aspects are considered: the basic principles which can be deduced from the milieu hypthesis and the analysis of innovative networks; the differences between the three regions with regard to the intensity of interconnections between the various concerns in the innovative milieux; and the role of technology policy in generating the innovative milieux and networks in the regions in question. -P.Cooke
