Abstract

Ice recrystallization is one of the most well-known processes which involved in long term storage of living cells. In this paper, we propose an image processing steps for ice crystal segmentation using active contours. Based on the described steps we develop related software, which should improve quality of microscopic analysis for better understanding of ice recrystallization process. The developed application has been successfully applied for semi-automated segmentation and analysis of ice crystals during isothermal annealing.
