Abstract

The Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) at Leibniz University Hannover has developed a novel linear-rotary direct drive for machine tools. This combines linear and rotary movements in a single drive. As a result, the overall dynamics of machine axes can be improved and the installation space reduced.
