N2 - Nowadays much research is devoted to study nonlinear propagation of intensive light in dielectric media (e.g. filamentation). In order to reliably simulate the complex dynamics involved in such propagation problems the precise knowledge of the key parameters such as the nonlinear refractive index (n2) is indispensable. However, the determination of n2 is especially in gases very difficult, because this quantity is very small. As a consequence, there is a big variation in the available experimental data.
