Abstract

High accuracy requirements have prevented the use of advantageous bioceramics for all implant components in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) so far. High-precision grinding and polishing processes for free formed ceramic surfaces are essential. Constantly changing contact conditions have to be considered to ensure a steady material removal. Here appropriate tools, which can be adjusted to the form variation of the component contour are introduced.
