Abstract
This article will address the topic of allocation decisions in the design process of global value-generating networks. The approaches are the results of the ongoing research project "Global Variant Production System" (GVP) funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The consortium of this research project consists of the Institute of Production Systems and Logistics (IFA) and other institutes as well as several German industrial enterprises. Starting point is the demonstration of the GVP project by utilizing the SADT method. The following description refers to the current state of the work packages of the IFA. The developed procedure and methods to design value-generating networks will be illustrated. To conclude the article, planned approaches by the IFA in the field of global production will be introduced.
