Abstract

This paper presents a method for the analytical calculation of eddy current losses in rectangular magnets penetrated by homogeneous alternating fields. By considering the reaction field and the end-face effects, general rules for the reduction of eddy current losses by magnet segmentation are derived, taking into account material parameters and frequency dependence.
