Abstract
Within this contribution the effective constitutive behaviour of cement paste is investigated for freezing conditions. The macroscopic response which is observed in experiments is mainly resulting from phenomena which take place within the heterogeneous micro-structure of the material. The analysis of the water filled micro-structure on the basis of inelastic material response helpds in understanding the damage due to frost in cement paste. Furthermore the consideration of randomly deistributed material phases yields mean values and standard deviation for effective constitutive parameters and effective damage. These values can then be applied to the simulation of macro-structures.
