Abstract
This paper presents the new design of a field powered microwave transponder fully integrated into metallic objects. The transponder operates in the 2.45 GHz ISM band and consists mainly of an integrated antenna and a hybrid programmable transponder circuit. The realized system performs identification and has been integrated 11 cm deep into a metallic work piece. An operating range of up to 80 cm and a data rate of 2 Mb/s have been achieved.
