Abstract
Although ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) is a relatively new material, several constructions applying UHPC have already been realized throughout the world. In order to provide a basis of design of UHPC structures, the priority programme "Sustainable Building with Ultra High Performance Concrete" was initiated by the German Research Foundation in 2005 financing numerous research projects within a period of six years1. The special and outstanding characteristics of UHPC require the development of a triaxial mechanical model for numerical investigations. This paper summarizes the research work of the task group "Failure Models" composed of three related research projects. Finally, all experimental results and model approaches of these projects shall be introduced into a multi-axial failure model - including fatigue - being suitable for numerical investigations.
