Abstract
This paper deals with two special aspects of the simulation and design of lattice support structures for offshore wind energy converters: the sensitivity of the structures to the distribution of wave direction within irregular sea states and the influence of local joint flexibility on the dynamic behaviour and the fatigue of the structures. It is shown how consideration of these aspects helps to reduce fatigue loading of certain structural details significantly.
