Abstract
An investigation has been carried out by RWE Power AC, Phoenix CBS GmbH and the Institut für Transport- und Automatisierungstechnik of the Universität Hannover (ITA). A correlation has been demonstrated between resistances to motion found in measurements in the field and indentation rolling resistances measured in a test rig. Based on the gained knowledge cover plate compounds have been developed that show a further improved indentation rolling resistance compared to current state-of-the-art. Under consideration of acting normal forces between idlers and conveyor belt it could be shown that the indentation rolling resistance measured in the test rig can be translated to real-life conveyors in the field.
