note = "Funding Information: Chee-Kit Looi received the PhD degree from the University of Edinburgh in 1988. He is currently the head of the Center of Excellence in Learning Innovation at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He has also served as head of the Learning Sciences Laboratory (LSL) at NIE since its inception in late 2004. LSL is now a prominent player in the international learning sciences community with 30 faculty staff and 35 research associates/assistants involved in more than 30 research projects. The work of LSL is characterized by its emphasis on doing research that is intended to lead to transformational and systemic changes in student learning in schools in Singapore. Dr. Looi has been very much involved in educational technology research for more than two decades. He has designed intelligent tutoring systems, including agent-augmented systems and interactive and collaborative learning environments, and more recently has been involved in teacher education. His research has resulted in learning environments used by Singapore and South-East Asian students and educational software licensed to local industry. He has given keynote and invited talks in Australia, China, Finland, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Taiwan. His current research includes technology-enabled mathematics learning, collaborative learning, and mobile computing. Dr. Looi also sits on the editorial boards of the Journal of Computer-Assisted Learning, the International Journal on AI and Education, and the International Journal on Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning. He is the PI of several research projects funded by LSL, as well as two Interactive Digital Media projects funded by the National Research Foundation of Singapore.",
