Abstract
Reducing the dominant base load of machine tools is an important step to reach the goal of energy saving. The suggested approach predicts the main drive's energy consumption and provides further process information. This data base affords a process-oriented control of peripheral components, so the already identiffied possible savings can be achieved in the planning phase as well as in the production process itself.
