Abstract
The transient behaviour of electrical machines is very hard to determine analytically due to the complicated field situation. Normally, much better results can be achieved with numerical simulations than with analytical calculations thus taking into account the exact saturation behaviour. However, numerical calculations usually are very time-consuming. In this paper a simplified numerical method is proposed which is very fast as only very few numerical simulations are necessary. Finally, the results of both analytical and numerical calculations are compared with measurements.
