Abstract
Among other components sealings take a key role in the development of hydraulic technology. The necessity for testings and investigations on seals accompanies the rising number of new sealing developments. In many cases investigations on seal counterpart combinations have their focus on life prediction and wear behavior. Among these properties the coefficient of friction μ takes a significant role in many applications. It depends on various parameters as well as non-linear constitutive laws. For an analysis of friction characteristic and contact mechanisms, a new innovative high-performance linear test rig was designed at the Institute of Dynamics and Vibration Research.
