Abstract
Industrial trucks will gain more functionality than conveying goods. Tasks in logistic processes, e.g. manual input of goods issue slips in warehouse management systems will be executed automatically. Decentrally organized information technology helps to automatise those functions. Employees will work safer and conveying speed will be increased. Forklift trucks will be a key element in material handling and help to control the flow of goods. In those systems, industrial trucks will allow communication with the management assistant systems. The com-munication works by means of RFID and WLAN. Data from a forklift's control unit must be combined with data from RFID-Tags on pallets. Decisions can be made at the same point where information is generated in this new architecture. Efficiency will increase, as a calculation of profitability between old and new processes shows.
