Abstract
The generation and mobility of discrete solitons in Bose-Einstein condensates were discussed. The creation of one-dimensional discrete solitons, for both attractive and repulsive interatomic interactions was studied. Discrete solitons were characterized by being stable solutions of the hamiltonians which propagate without distortion. The results show that the estimation of the PN barrier is crucially sensitive to slight deviations from the tight binding conditions.
