Abstract
Until recently UV researchers in Europe used instruments and produced results adapted to local and individual requirements. This caused difficulties in intercomparisons. A European database has been developed incorporating quality data from measuring sites across Europe, the data being input to agreed standards. This has led to improved modelling. Some of the results are reported.
