Abstract

This paper investigates the single active bridge dc-dc converter with voltage doubler. An analytical investigation is given, completely describing the operating behaviour of the converter. Herewith, the impact of the transformer's properties and a calculation of the current stress of the semiconductors and passive devices is shown. The results are compared to the single active bridge with full bridge rectifier. With regard to a small ripple current at the converter input, the results can be used as a tool for an optimised converter design. All results are compared to simulations. A 1.2kW prototype was built, and measurement results are given.
