Abstract

The economic production of complex and high-quality components using multi-axes machining centres requires adapted computer assistance within in the manufacturing and process planning. This computer assistance consists of the following steps: process planning (Computer Aided Manufacturing, CAM), machine-specific adaptation (Post-processor), testing and optimisation (NC-Simulation) as well as the commissioning of the manufacturing process. In this article, these single steps are explicated separately and in their interrelation. In this way process steps that are required by a particular company, are identified. Together with the recognition of the relevant interfaces an adaptation of the manufacturing and process planning to company specific demands is thus enabled in the future.
