Abstract

In the context of different contemporary conditions 'bigness' and density are crucial for further developments of architecture and the city. How does the effect of bigness change when porosity is a part of its concept? What kind of qualities emerge expanding possibilities for urbanity? Taking some theories and actual architectural projects of the urban thinker and architect Rem Koolhaas and the OMA in Rotterdam as focus and starting point enables to identify and reveal some specific features.
