Abstract

The regeneration of complex capital goods (maintenance, repair and overhaul) is characterized by a high insecurity regarding occurring damages and thus the work content which needs to be processed. Furthermore, regeneration processes underline high logistic requirements, which becomes clear while taking the high schedule reliability customers demand into account. To guarantee a high schedule reliability, all regeneration processes need to be coordinated, so that the reassembly will be provided with all the required components on time. The choice of order sequencing in the repair section as well as the dimensioning of the so-called pool stock level form the two most important cause variables to organize the supply of reassembly on schedule. This article discusses the impact of those two design options on the missing part situation of reassembly and presents results of extensive simulation studies.
