Abstract
Investigations show that worsted fabrics can be processed with less trouble during the further automation of production processes - with the aim of reducing production costs and improving fabric appearance - only hygral expansion (HE) is taken into consideration as well as relaxation shrinkage. The fabric properties necessary for processing and quality can be determined optimally in the dialogue between the finisher and the garment manufacturer. Dimensional stability can be attained only within the limits set by the fibres, yarn and fabric structure, and the finishing. Ways of achieving success by using this strategy are pointed out.
