Abstract

This paper presents a user study on robot path planning in a Virtual Reality environment. The focus of the research was on user-friendly human–robot interaction. An industrial test scenario was created using Virtual Reality. Subjects were asked to teach a virtual robot for an industrial application. This user study was conducted to evaluate three operating concepts in terms of speed and usability. The developed system has proven to be very user friendly. It represents a possible alternative to the classical teach-in procedure of robots.
