Abstract

Grouted joint connections for offshore wind turbines are already subjected to dynamic loadings during the manufacturing process. It is conceivable that these loads lead to some effects which have a negative influence to the hardening concrete, mortar or cement paste, including sedimentation and segregation. It is possible that the aggregates in the grout sediment and segregate due to the movement of the connections. Another effect which can occur is structural damages in the cement paste matrix of the hardening grout material during the hydration process. On top of that, plastic deformations might occur due to the loadings, thereby creating cavities around the shear keys. A test apparatus was developed, that enables the simulation of the influences of early age cycling effects on the properties of grouting materials.
