Abstract
Trihalotriquinacenes 3 react with secondary amines to yield 4,7-bis(dialkylamino)dihydroacepentalenes 4. Upon reduction with sodium the tetraenes 4 apparently form radical anion intermediates 5 which disproportionate to tris(dialkylamino)trienyl anions 6 and possibly acepentalenediide 2.
