Description

The use of metallic powders in oxygen-free production requires complete and permanent deoxidation of the particle surfaces, which takes place here in a plasma-supported fluidized bed with reducing gases. In the first funding period, processing aspects such as the fluidization of the powder and the coupling of the plasma generator with the fluidized bed were investigated on copper powders that are straightforward to deoxidize. In the second funding period, the deoxidation of particles with a higher affinity for oxygen, such as titanium and titanium alloys, and the handling of the deoxidized powder will be investigated. Moreover, the focus is on the effect of the doping with nanoparticles made of SiO2 or titanium on the flowability and possible autocatalytic effects on deoxidation.
